Weekly Poll 📊
Last week I asked which Year 2 running back you would rather take with the 12th overall pick…
Here is how you answered:
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Ashton Jeanty (53.44%)
🟨🟨🟨🟨🟨⬜️ Omarion Hampton (46.56%)
The Results:
This one was close! I sort of expected Jeanty to dominate this one given he has the clear higher ADP in Underdog drafts right now, but with some Hampton holdouts who felt scorned by Jeanty’s disappointing rookie season.
The Case for Hampton:
One Hampton voter commented “I like the Chargers offense a lot more than the Raiders.”
This seems to be the sentiment for Hampton voters across the board. He did average more points than Jeanty per week in his injury riddled rookie season and now gets what is likely a massive situational upgrade with returning offensive tackles and the addition of OC Mike McDaniel. Hampton also basically never saw a dominant snap share last season outside of Weeks 3-4 last season (where he scored 24+ points in both games). The ceiling here is massive.
The Case for Jeanty:
One Jeanty voter commented “Improvements on raiders OL, Kirk + Doza aren’t scrambling guys and will check down often. Hampton has more risk of committee, but otherwise situation + talent look good”.
Jeanty did dominate Hampton when it came to rush share last season (71.2% vs. 51.5%). The Raiders made no significant additions to their RB while setting themselves up for a much better offensive environment. Jeanty’s volume gives him a ridiculously high floor, and if the Raiders offense can make the leap we think it will then the ceiling will follow.

You can compare any two players directly right now in the WalterPicks Mock Draft Tool.
My Take:
I prefer Hampton at this point in time. While Jeanty is incredibly likely to win the volume battle, I feel much better about the state of the Chargers offense, and in-turn, Hampton reaching his ceiling. I have a tendency to target talent + efficiency over raw opportunity based on the principle that efficient players get more opportunity in the long run.
I’m not the only one on the WalterPicks team who feels this way:
The margins are razor thin on this one. Both could blossom into fantasy superstars this year.
This weeks question…
Which Year 2 WR scores the most PPR points this season?
