Start 'Em Up: Week 8 Starts and Sleepers

Quarterbacks

Start: Bo Nix (vs. Cowboys) is coming off one of the best fantasy football quarters of all time, and this week he is taking on the Cowboys. He ranks very highly in our app, and it is unlikely that you have someone with a higher ceiling than Bo Nix.

Start: Caleb Williams (vs. Ravens) has an incredible matchup with the Ravens this week. They have been dreadful against opposing team’s passing, and if Lamar Jackson plays, the QB is likely going to be tasked with passing the ball more.

Sleeper: Aaron Rodgers (vs. Packers) is a sleeper in the revenge game of all revenge games. The Packers’ secondary is nowhere as daunting as many fantasy players may be lead to believe, and if you are dealing with an injury or bye at quarterback, consider Rodgersf as a sneaky option.

Running Backs

Start: Derrick Henry (vs. Bears) is facing a Bears squad that struggles against opposing running backs. With Lamar likely returning, the entire complexion of the Ravens should shift into a more positive direction. We anticipate a good performance for El Tractorcito.

Start: Rachaad White (vs. Saints) offers a high ceiling and safe floor against the Saints. He should see quality targets, and he has a great chance of getting into the endzone. Play White with confidence.

Sleeper: Brashard Smith (vs. Commanders) is the definition of a sleeper this week. He performed well last week, while a large portion of his carries came in garbage time. This game has a good chance of having a decent amount of that aforementioned garbage time. In PPR leagues, Smith is appealing because of how much of his skill set revolves around pass catching.

Wide Receivers

Start: Courtland Sutton (vs. Cowboys) is someone that is going to smash again this week. The Cowboys’ secondary is abysmal, and this game should be competitive.

Start: Devonta Smith (vs. Giants) is a fantastic play this week. The G-Men can keep this game somewhat competitive, and AJ Brown has a real chance of missing this game or at least being limited. Additionally, the Giants’ secondary is very injured, and if Deonte Banks plays in this game, he will be torched.

Sleeper: Jaylin Noel (vs. 49ers) is someone to consider in deep leagues. With Nico Collins and Christian Kirk missing this game, Noel is the player anticipated to be the primary beneficiary. If you are having bye problems, or are dealing with injuries, consider the rookie.

Tight Ends

Start: Kyle Pitts (vs. Dolphins) is a safe tight end option against the Dolphins, a struggling team that stinks against TEs. If you have Pitts, start him.

Sleeper: Colston Loveland (vs. Ravens) is a sneaky option against a bad Ravens defense. Loveland showed some sparks last week, and he has the opportunity to ignite even more in Week 8.

Things to Watch Closely for Fantasy in Week 6

  • Will George Kittle score more than ZERO this week?

  • Will the Eagles beat the Giants this time?

  • The Patriots rushing attack against the Browns

  • Lamar Jackson in his return

  • Tet McMillan with Andy Dalton

  • Can any Titans WR make their mark?

  • Chuba Hubbard and Rico Dowdle again

DFS Favorites

These are some of the players Walter recommends prioritizing in your FanDuel and DraftKings lineups.

QB: Jaxson Dart, FD price: $7,400 DK Price: $5,500, has been an excellent fantasy QB so far, including a great performance against the Eagles already. He has a nice ceiling/floor combination.

RB: Jonathan Taylor, FD Price: $10,200 DK Price: $9,500, went off against Tennessee in their first meeting. Now, he faces them again and is going to go nuclear again. Play him with confidence, regardless of his expensive price tag.

WR: Drake London, FD Price: $7,800 DK Price: $6,400, is in a bounce back spot against the Dolphins. He is actually a somewhat contrarian play with how popular Bijan Robinson will be. Play London in tournaments.

TE: Evan Engram, FD Price: $5,300 DK Price: $4,100, is a good option against the Cowboys. He’s been seeing a consistent workload, and the Cowboys matchup presents a great opportunity for him to produce for fantasy purposes.

My Favorite Upset Pick of Week 8

Steelers to beat the Packers on Sunday Night Football

Odds: +135

Spread: GB -2.5

Reasoning: The Packers have low key looked incredibly mid over the last month. They have not really knocked anyone’s socks off, and I do not foresee them doing that to the Steelers, especially not in Rodgers’ revenge game. Do not be surprised if the Steelers cover this spread or even win this matchup.
