๐Ÿˆ Week 3 Fantasy Mega-Preview

Week 3 has arrived! This article will provide insights into key start/sit decisions, key situations to watch, DFS insights, and my FAVORITE UPSET. Let's get after it!

Start 'Em Up: Week 3 Starts and Sleepers

Quarterbacks

Start: Daniel Jones (vs. Titans) at this juncture, is someone to prioritize starting. He has looked like a new person through two weeks, and he just put up an excellent performance against one of the best defenses in the NFL. This week, he is taking on a weak Titans defense, and we recommend playing Indiana Jones.

Start: Jalen Hurts (vs. Rams) is kind of a crazy player to highlight for this, but we really love this matchup for him this week. He did not have a great fantasy performance in Week 2, but his rushing and competitive matchup make him one of our highest ranked quarterbacks on the week.

Sleeper: Aaron Rodgers (vs. Patriots) is in a fantastic matchup against a weak and inexperienced secondary. If you are missing Joe Burrow, J.J. McCarthy, or Jayden Daniels, Rodgers is certainly someone you can start with confidence.

Running Backs

Start: Chase Brown (vs. Vikings) has been very inefficient to begin this season, but we recommend playing him this week. He is one of our top PPR backs against the Vikings, a team that was just obliterated by Bijan Robinson AND Tyler Allgeier. Another thing worth noting is that Jake Browning is very likely to target Brown as a safety blanket. He did the same thing with Joe Mixon the last time he started for Cincinnati.

Start: Jordan Mason (vs. Bengals) is expected to be the workhorse for San Francisco this week. Head Coach Kevin O'Connell said he is confident in Mason's ability to fulfill this role. He ranks well this week in an advantageous matchup, and there are very few backs with a better role than him this week.

Sleeper: Bhayshul Tuten (vs. Texans) showed flashes last week, swerving a defender out of his cleats en route to scoring a touchdown. He is the second back behind Travis Etienne Jr., but he has a real role and an intriguing matchup. He is worth a flyer in deep leagues.

Wide Receivers

Start: Rome Odunze (vs. Cowboys) is a must start at the moment. He is in the midst of a second-year breakout, and he has a matchup with the Cowboys, a team that was torched by Wan'Dale Robinson and Malik Nabers last week. Prioritize getting Rome Odunze in your lineups. All roads lead to Rome.

Start: Jameson Williams (vs. Ravens) has a massive ceiling against the Ravens. This matchup is projected to be very high-scoring and competitive. If both those things ring true, Williams is going to produce. Play him for his ceiling this week.

Sleeper: Hunter Renfrow (vs. Falcons) is a sneaky flex against a Falcons secondary without A.J. Terrell. He looked like his former self in Week 2, and we are projecting him to be a fine flex in deep leagues.

Tight Ends

Start: Travis Kelce (vs. Giants) will be facing a depleted Giants linebacking corp this week. He has a very safe floor in this spot, and we recommend playing one of the greatest tight ends of all time.

Sleeper: Jake Tonges (vs. Cardinals) is a sneaky play this week against the Cardinals. As long as we can remember, Arizona has struggled against opposing tight ends. Tonges will see a few targets, and if he can get into the endzone, he will be a great TE option.

Things to Watch Closely for Fantasy in Week 3

  • Will Mark Andrews have ANOTHER terrible outing? Did he read my letter?

  • Will Derrick Henry bounce back in an incredible matchup?

  • Vikings and Bengals weapons without their starting quarterbacks

  • Brian Thomas Jr.

  • Can Russell Wilson turn back the clock for the second week in a row?

  • New England and Pittsburgh wide receivers in a good matchup

  • Giants backfield distribution

  • A.J. Brown

  • Quinshon Judkins workload

  • Can Juwan Johnson keep it going?

DFS Favorites

These are some of the players Walter recommends prioritizing in your FanDuel and DraftKings lineups.

Drake Maye, FD price: $7,300 DK Price: $5,300, has a great matchup with the Steelers. He offers rushing ability, as well as a competitive game script. Both these factors make him a great DFS option.

Jordan Mason, FD Price: $5,800 DK Price: $5,400, has an excellent ROI given his workload, the matchup, and the game script. Mason is going to be highly rostered, but for good reason.

Rome Odunze, FD Price: $6,400 DK Price: $5,300, is far too underpriced, given how well he has been playing. In a great matchup, Odunze is very stackable, while also being a stellar standalone option if that is the path you decide to take.

The Raiders Defense, FD Price: $3,100 DK Price: $2,300, are one of the cheapest options available, and it is incredibly likely that they are facing Marcus Mariota this week. They have a decent floor and a nice ceiling.

My Favorite Upset Pick of Week 2

Raiders to beat the Commanders on the road.

Odds: +150

Spread: WSH -3.5

Reasoning: The Commanders are likely going to be starting Marcus Mariota this week, and that instantly gives the Raiders a better chance of winning. Coming off of a terrible performance, I am expecting Geno Smith to turn things around against a defense that has not been overly impressive the first two weeks.
