Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Week 16 Sleepers and Fades

We're focusing on the borderline players who could make or break your Week 16 lineup. The must-start players like Puka Nacua and Jaxon Smith-Njigba should continue to be in all lineups.

So, let’s look at some fringe players in this game and decide whether they should be in fantasy lineups or not in Week 16.

START: TE Colby Parkinson

Los Angeles Rams TE Colby Parkinson has been a sneaky TE1 option in recent weeks. He has finished as a top-12 fantasy TE in five of his past six games, which included a 24.5 PPR fantasy point performance last week against the Detroit Lions. Parkinson will be a strong TE1 play this week against the Seahawks.

With Davante Adams (hamstring) not trending to play in this game, Parkinson should continue to see opportunities in the passing game. He has already caught six touchdown passes since Week 10 and has seen at least five targets in three consecutive contests. Given that the Seahawks have also allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing TEs this year, the veteran is worth starting in most formats.

Walter's Rank: TE4

START: QB Matthew Stafford

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford has been an extremely reliable QB1 play this season. He has finished as a top-12 fantasy QB in six of the past eight weeks and has thrown multiple passing touchdowns in eight consecutive games. Stafford will be a low-end QB1 this week against the Seahawks.

Although Seattle has given up the seventh-fewest fantasy points to opposing QBs this season, managers can still trust Stafford in most leagues. His 20.4 fantasy points per game rank as the QB4, and his 2.6 passing touchdowns per game rank first among all QBs.

Walter's Rank: QB11

SIT: TE AJ Barner

Seattle Seahawks TE AJ Barner should not be on any fantasy manager’s radar for Thursday night. He has finished outside the top-20 at the TE position in four straight games and hasn’t totaled more than 35 receiving yards in a game since Week 11.

Even though Barner did have a 10-catch, 70-yard performance against the Rams in the first meeting, he should be sat in most cases this week. Los Angeles ranks fifth in receiving yards allowed, 11th in receiving touchdowns allowed, and 11th in fantasy points allowed to the TE position this year.

Walter's Rank: TE17

SIT: RB Kenneth Walker III

Fantasy managers can’t simply trust Kenneth Walker in the second round of the fantasy football playoffs. He has scored under four PPR fantasy points in back-to-back games and has finished as a top-24 fantasy RB just twice since Week 4. For that reason, he should be sat in most leagues in Week 16.

Kenneth Walker’s Game Log This Season

Walker has finished with under a 41% rush share in three straight games and played only 25 offensive snaps in last week’s win. This matchup also isn’t a favorable one for the Seattle RB, considering the Rams have allowed the third-fewest fantasy points to opposing RBs this season.

Walter’s Rank: RB26

Prop: Matthew Stafford OVER 1.5 Passing Touchdowns (+100 on Bally Bet)

Matthew Stafford's Recent Passing Touchdown Games

Reasoning: Stafford has gone over this line in eight straight games. He is averaging 2.6 passing touchdowns per game this season and just threw two passing touchdowns against the Seahawks back in Week 11.

With a 10.9% EV Edge at Bally Bet, Walter believes this is a bet worth taking on Thursday night. Stafford is projected for 2.1 passing touchdowns in our Player Prop Evaluator.
