🏈 The Newsroom

Training camp has begun meaning we have TONS of reports from teams and beat reporters to sift through. I am going to divide this into three sections for the sake of efficiency; the good, the bad, and the injured.

The Big Stuff

The Joe Mixon reports all have a lot of uncertain language. A normal healthy start to the season feels unlikely at this point. The biggest beneficiaries of time missed will be Nick Chubb and rookie Woody Marks.

The Rams are insistent that Matt Stafford will be ready for the start of the season and that they are just playing it safe with him. In a situation like this with so much continuity there is some reason to believe that Stafford missing the beginning of camp will not be a huge issue. But its still concerning that Stafford is needing to take it easy following a long period with no team activities. Stafford’s availability will have a huge impact on the fantasy projections for every Ram.

Until he is practicing in full, this is one of the biggest stories in the league to be following for fantasy football.

Other Notes

  • The Seahawks released TE Noah Fant last week. This will likely lead to more volume for AJ Barner and standout rookie Elijah Arroyo.

  • Hype for Falcons TE Kyle Pitts has been revived - he is reportedly working with wide receivers more than tight ends in practice and will be getting the ball a lot according to QB Michael Penix Jr.

  • Jets QB Justin Fields had an injury scare, being carted off the field on Thursday with a toe injury. Fortunately, he appears to have avoided serious damage and returned to practice on Friday.

  • Commanders WR Terry McLaurin is seeking a new contract and did not report to training camp on time but was spotted in the team facility on Saturday with an ankle injury. He is expected to be placed on PUP, ending the fines he would have received from holding out. There is reportedly no progress on a new deal.

  • Vikings WR Justin Jefferson was held out of practice with a mild hamstring strain and is set to be reevaluated next week.

  • Falcons WR Darnell Mooney will reportedly miss a few weeks with a shoulder injury.

  • Titans WR Treylon Burks should miss the entire 2025 season after fracturing his collarbone.

  • Titans QB Will Levis was placed on season ending injured reserve.

  • Free agent WR Keenan Allen has reportedly drawn interest from teams in recent weeks and is assessing the landscape in training camps before he signs. Expect him to be on a team within the next few weeks.

Favorite Training Camp Clips to Overreact Too

The pads are not even on yet but the influx of practice clips from beat reporters provides a ton of content to overreact to during the early parts of training camp. Here are five of my favorites from the first week!

1. Drake Maye rolls out and find Douglas

This is only one of many clips posted of Pop Douglas making plays. He reportedly is thriving in the slot in Josh McDaniels’ offense early. This clip takes the cake for the Drake Maye rollout, and the camera angle making it feel like he is a mile away.

2. CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens celebrate

The most wide receiver-y of all the wide receiver duos is starting camp with positive vibes. Spoiler alert for another article coming later this week, but I believe their complimentary skillsets combined with an absurd passing rate for Dallas could lead to both CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens being top-10 fantasy receivers.

3.Joe Burrow finds Ja’Marr Chase for a one-handed touchdown

There is nothing either one of these guys could do in a practice clip that would shift their ADP. But everything looks cooler when the players are wearing the color orange.

4. Keandre Lambert-Smith “terrorizes” defenses

Please raise your hand if you were watching closely for a KeAndre Lambert-Smith training camp breakout. This is the first clip I saw that made me go “we are back”. There is almost no context to either catch. Neither catch was frankly that impressive. KeAndre Lambert-Smith still moved to my deep sleeper list.

5. Jalen Milroe’s deep ball

Everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY loves a good spiral.

This is definitely the best video of a spiral I have seen this week, no doubt about it.
