Welcome to Walter’s 2025 Report Card - a series looking back on Walter's pre-draft insights and evaluating their predictive accuracy. The focus will be QBs that Walter ranked higher than consensus rankings in the pre-season - given that correctly differentiating from consensus is how you create edges in fantasy football.

Here are some of the WRs that Walter differed from consensus on in 2025 - for better or for worse!

Biggest WR Win

Here is what we wrote about Davante Adams in our draft guide when highlighting top targets for 2025 drafts:

“Davante Adams showed no signs of slowing down last season despite being 32 years old. Adams 17 points per game ranks 11th at WR and he only had 1 game under 17.5 points over his final 6 games of the season.

Now he’s on an improved offense alongside Matthew Stafford who has historically peppered his top receivers with targets. Adams has a great chance at a 30%+ target share even with Puka Nacua being the top receiver on the team. The worst per game points per game finish we have seen from Davante Adams since 2016 is WR15 (15.6 points per game).

On Sleeper and Yahoo, Adams is frequently available in round 4.”

Yup. Adams saw his highest yards per reception total AND TDs scored since 2022. His 14 receiving TDs led the NFL, as he essentially functioned as the Rams goal-line back in short yardage red zone situations. We were able to properly identify that he still had juice, while factoring in how much of a situational upgrade it was for him to go to the Rams. Adams was one of the best picks in fantasy football this season, and a huge win for the WalterPicks projections team.

Other winning WRs that Walter liked more than consensus(number of spots Overall Walter Rank was ahead of Overall ADP):

George Pickens (7.3) —> Walter Ranking WR25, Finished WR5

Chris Olave (17.5) —> Walter Ranking WR31, Finished WR6

Emeka Egbuka (37.5) —> Walter Ranking WR34, Finished WR23

Stefon Diggs (24.1) —> Walter Ranking WR35, Finished WR17

Michael Pittman Jr. (45.7) —> Walter Ranking WR42, Finished WR18

Biggest WR Whiff

Its definitely a positive that our first catastrophic positive WR ranking did not come up until Calvin Ridley, a player going in Round 6+ of 2025 fantasy drafts. But for those who took him over a round earlier than his ADP (as we had him ranked), he presented a serious impediment to your team’s success.

Coming off the heels of a sneakily productive 2024 season, a lack of target competition and a potential big QB upgrade had us feeling bullish about Ridley. Injuries aside, this season was an absolute disaster. He went from a 44% team air yards share in 2024, to just 25% in 2025. He fell to outside the top 100 WRs in separation, and explosive plays disappeared. Of the weeks he did play, he eclipsed 10 PPR points only once.

Its rare to have a player going this late in drafts lose you matchups, but if you were unlucky enough to start Ridley any weeks of 2025 he did just that.

Other losing WRs that Walter liked more than consensus(number of spots Overall Walter Rank was ahead of Overall ADP):

Travis Hunter (13.3) —> Walter Ranking WR27, Finished WR93 (WR54 in PPG)

Jerry Jeudy (13.2) —> Walter Ranking WR32, Finished WR51

Marvin Mims (65.2) —> Walter Ranking WR46, Finished WR72

Matthew Golden (22.6) —> Walter Ranking WR41, Finished WR86

Walter’s Sleeper Wins

Wan’Dale Robinson

Walter had Wan’Dale Robinson ranked 61.8 spots above consensus, and he rewarded drafters with a WR17 points per game finish. Malik Nabers getting hurt obviously opened up an enormous amount of target share in the Giants offense that could not have been anticipated before the season. What was anticipated though was an upgrade in QB play. Robinson’s yards per reception was the highest of his career as he became a weapon against man defenses for Dart and Winston.

Alec Pierce

Nobody thought that Daniel Jones would be THAT much better than Anthony Richardson, but we suspected that Pierce might have more in the tank and ranked him 11 spots higher than consensus at the WR position. With a much improved QB situation he managed to maintain his elite 20+ yards per reception while increasing his volume, resulting in his first 1,000+ yard season and an overall WR27 finish in fantasy.

Keenan Allen

While the veteran eventually faded in the end, Keenan Allen spent nearly half of the fantasy season ranked inside the top-20 WRs in our app. His early season combination of air yards, red zone opportunities, and target share was elite, and the production was there to match. He fit Greg Roman’s early pass heavy offense like a glove, much to the chagrin of Ladd McConkey drafters. While he ended up finishing as the WR28 overall, we were very correct that his WR59 ADP was egregious. We had him ranked as the WR49 and there was a strong return on investment.
