Thursday Night Football Preview

Matchup: Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals

Time: 8:15 PM ET

Where to Watch: Prime Video

Spread: SEA -1.5

Total: 43.5

Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Week 4 Sleepers and Fades

We're focusing on the borderline players who could make or break your Week 4 lineup. The obvious stars like Trey McBride and Jaxon Smith-Njigba are automatic starts.

So, let’s look at some fringe players and decide whether they should be in fantasy lineups or not in Week 4.

Start: RB Trey Benson

James Conner's season-ending ankle injury clears the runway for Trey Benson to dominate Arizona's backfield the rest of the season. The second-year back already commanded 61% of snaps last week with 13 touches, and now he's the unquestioned RB1 against a vulnerable Seahawks run defense.

Seattle's defense is prime for exploitation, given that it has surrendered the 11th-most fantasy points to opposing backs through three weeks. Even better for Benson, the Seahawks are allowing a league-worst 234 receiving yards to RBs this season. With seven catches over his last two games, Benson is perfectly positioned to capitalize on both fronts. Lock him in as a must-start RB2.

Walter’s Rank: RB17

Start: RB Kenneth Walker

Seattle Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker seized control of Seattle's backfield with Zach Charbonnet sidelined last week, and he’s hard to fade in Week 4 even with Charbonnet returning for Thursday’s matchup. Walker has found the end zone three times over the last two games, riding a wave of momentum into a prime matchup.

This is also a solid matchup for Walker, considering Arizona has allowed over 13 PPR fantasy points to an RB in three consecutive games. The Cardinals are equally vulnerable through the air, surrendering the fourth-most catches to opposing backs this season. Walker's dual-threat ability gives him multiple paths to production, making him a rock-solid flex play in 12+ team leagues despite the backfield competition.

Walter’s Rank: RB29

Sit: WR Marvin Harrison Jr.

Marvin Harrison Jr.'s sophomore campaign is hitting turbulence at the worst possible time. He has had back-to-back games under eight PPR points, and his anemic 19.3% target share suggests Arizona isn't prioritizing him in the passing game.

The matchup only makes matters worse. Seattle's secondary has been lockdown, allowing the second-fewest fantasy points and third-fewest receptions to WRs this season. Harrison's meager production recently — just five catches for 71 yards over his last two games — makes him a sit in Week 4. It’s best to fade him until he shows signs of life.

Marvin Harrison Jr.’s Player Profile

Walter’s Rank: WR54

Sit: WR Cooper Kupp

Seattle Seahawks WR Cooper Kupp has been an inconsistent fantasy option so far. Although he caught seven passes for 90 yards in Week 2 against the Steelers, he has totaled under 5.5 PPR fantasy points in two of his other games this season. More importantly, he is averaging just five targets per game in the early going.

Therefore, it’s best to sit Kupp in most formats this week. He totaled just two catches for 31 yards last week and is too risky to trust in fantasy in Week 4. With a 20.8% target share, look elsewhere for a flex play.

Walter’s Rank: WR46

Things to Watch Closely For Fantasy:

  • Charbonnet’s return: How much does it hurt Walker?

  • Harrison’s Inconsistencies: Will it continue?

  • Seattle’s Elite D/ST: Best fantasy defense moving forward?

  • Benson’s workload: What does it look like without Conner?

Free TNF Prop Pick

Prop: AJ Barner OVER 16.5 receiving yards (-109 on DraftKings)

Line Shopping in the WalterPicks App

Reasoning: AJ Barner has gone over this line in two of his three games this season, and the Cardinals have given up the seventh-most receiving yards to opposing TEs. Barner also has a solid 70% route participation, which means he should run enough routes to hit the over.

With a 5.9% EV Edge at DraftKings, Walter believes this is a bet worth taking on Thursday night. Barner is projected for 20.6 receiving yards in our Player Prop Evaulator.

My Final Score Prediction

Prediction: Cardinals 24-20

Last week’s recap: We went 2-1 last week by correctly guessing the Bills would win and the Dolphins would cover the spread. Unfortunately, the under did not hit.
