🏈 Kicker Strategy and Breakout Candidates for 2025

Our biggest kicker... yes, kicker... breakout candidates entering 2025 - keep an eye on these guys to become the kicker cream of the crop. Plus, how should you even handle kickers?

Kickers are a polarizing topic of debate in a vast majority of fantasy football leagues. Should they be in your league? Should they be given bonuses for making long kicks? Should they be punished for missing extra points? Why did that one dude in our league just take Brandon Aubrey in the sixth round?

Regardless of where you land, its best to understand the best ways to approach the position. Here are some ways to do that, as well as some kicker breakout candidates in 2025.

Basic Kicker Strategy

First things first, do not overspend on a kicker. The difference between the top kicker, Chris Boswell, and the fourth-highest kicker, Ka'imi Fairbairn, was only 24 fantasy points. The 24-point difference is largely inconsequential when considering the season's entirety and Boswell was not even the consensus number one kicker in drafts! Using a draft pick of any significance on a kicker is simply not worth the risk.

Based on this, we believe the ideal strategy is to find a few under-the-radar kickers you like, and prioritize them over the ones going highest. Doing so will ensure you can take as many shots as possible on late round positional players that have much higher potential value.

Here are some kickers we believe will perform well this season.

🏈 4 KICKERS with Fantasy Football BREAKOUT Potential

1. Will Reichard (K - Vikings)

Will Reichard finished as the 16th ranked kicker last season, and this was while missing four games. He won the kicker battle in Minnesota, and their high octane offense should frequently put him in field goal range. After his very encouraging rookie campaign, we have Will the Thrill projected as our second overall kicker. He is going incredibly late, if not undrafted, in many leagues right now.

Along with Minnesota’s high-octane offense, the Vikings have a bunch of shootout-caliber matchups that bode well for Reichard.

2. Tyler Loop (K - Ravens)

Tyler Loop finds himself filling some massive shoes as the Ravens' new kicker. He is a rookie, but the Ravens spent a sixth round pick on him, and Coach Harbaugh has sung his praises throughout the offseason (keep in mind, Harbaugh has a special teams background). On an electric offense, Loop should see many opportunities, and we are projecting him to have a solid weekly ceiling. He is going undrafted in many leagues, meaning many fantasy users are out of the "Loop." (I am so sorry).

3. Joshua Karty (K - Rams)

Joshua Karty, or as I like to call him, Playboi Karty, is in a great spot heading into his second season. The Rams have an effective offense, and we are projecting Karty to build off of his encouraging rookie campaign. In a competitive, high-scoring division, Karty is an excellent kicker selection at the end of drafts with the potential to break out.

Walter's Rank: K17
Walter's Projected Ceiling: K4

4. Cam Little (K - Jaguars)

Cam Little has the potential of being a second-year breakout kicker. The Jaguars are going to have an effective offense with head coach Liam Cohen at the helm, and we are projecting Little to see many opportunities, particularly because of his weak division. The Jaguars are going to be kicking lots of field goals, and this provides Cam LITTLE the opportunity to break out in a BIG way.

Walter's Projected Ceiling: K4

Little’s easy division, as well as advantageous schedule, make him a very intriguing kicker option.
