🏈 Fantasy Football Trade Report

Here is the fantasy football trade report following an injury-riddled Week 3. We list several buy low/sell high options heading into Week 4!

The injuries are starting to pile up for fantasy managers. Joe Burrow (toe), James Conner (ankle), and Najee Harris (Achilles) have all suffered season-ending injuries over the past two weeks, and superstar players like CeeDee Lamb (ankle), Terry McLaurin (quad), and Jayden Daniels (knee) are dealing with their own injuries that could keep them out for Week 4.

Making trades is the best way to improve your team and get through some of those injuries listed above. You can see how each trade affects your team and whether your projections for the rest of the year will go up or down. So, don’t miss out on winning every trade and sync YOUR league to the WalterPicks app.

Buy Low/Sell High Fantasy Football

Sell High: TE Mark Andrews

Baltimore Ravens TE Mark Andrews has given fantasy managers the perfect opportunity to sell after his explosive Week 3 performance. Following two disastrous outings where he managed just three catches for seven yards combined against the Bills and Browns, Andrews erupted for six catches, 91 yards, and two touchdowns. That was good for 27.1 PPR fantasy points, his highest single-game total since 2021.

However, this breakout game masks some troubling underlying trends. Through three weeks, he ranks outside the top 30 at the TE position in yards per route run (0.2), averages just five air yards per game, and runs a route on just 42% Lamar Jackson’s dropbacks. His meager 13.3% target share further highlights his diminished role in Baltimore's offense.

The Bottom Line: Capitalize on Andrews' spike week and explore trades immediately. He's currently ranked as the TE19 in our rest-of-season projections — behind players like Dallas Goedert, T.J. Hockenson, and Hunter Henry.

Buy Low: WR Tetairoa McMillan

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan's early-season inconsistency has created an excellent buying opportunity for savvy fantasy managers. Despite posting his first career 100-yard game just two weeks ago, McMillan managed only 7.8 PPR fantasy points in Week 3's blowout victory over the Falcons, marking his second sub-12-point performance in three games.

Don't let the inconsistent scoring fool you. McMillan's usage metrics tell a much more promising story. The former Arizona standout has commanded at least eight targets in every game this season, maintaining a robust 24.3% target share while participating in 91.6% of the team's routes. With nine targets per game and 36.3 routes run per contest, he's positioned for sustained fantasy success.

The Bottom Line: McMillan projects as a top-24 fantasy receiver moving forward. He is ranked higher than established players like Brian Thomas Jr., Courtland Sutton, and Deebo Samuel in our rest-of-season rankings. Strike now while his perceived value remains deflated from recent inconsistency.

Sell High: RB David Montgomery

Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery is coming off the best rushing game of his career. He rushed for a career-high 151 yards and two touchdowns against the Ravens on Monday night while finishing with 29.4 PPR fantasy points.

While the fantasy explosion was spectacular, the underlying role dynamics in Detroit's backfield haven't changed. Montgomery remains firmly entrenched as the secondary option behind Jahmyr Gibbs, and his opportunity metrics reflect this reality.

He ranks just 30th among running backs in rush share (37.8%), 41st in target share (6.5%), and 39th in overall opportunity share (38.1%). At 28 years old with limited upside in his current role, one monster game shouldn't overshadow the structural limitations of his fantasy ceiling.

The Bottom Line: Shop Montgomery aggressively while his trade value peaks. Target emerging players like Quinshon Judkins, who ranks significantly higher (RB13) in our rest-of-season projections and offers better long-term upside.

Using the WalterPicks Trade Analyzer

Each week, we will look at some recent trades that went down in Yahoo! leagues and use the WalterPicks trade analyzer to see if these trades were fair. This section is a way for you to see where players might be valued in the app.

Trade 1:

Team 1 Receives: RB Cam Skattebo

Team 2 Receives: WR Rashee Rice

Ruiling: This trade is about even, considering Cam Skattebo is set to see a larger role in New York’s offense with Tyrone Tracy Jr. out for the next two to four weeks. However, getting Rashee Rice for Skattebo feels like a slight win for Team 2.

Trade 2:

Team 1 Receives: RB Nick Chubb + RB Chase Brown

Team 2 Receives: RB J.K. Dobbins

Ruiling: Another even trade. Nick Chubb is basically a throw-in, so it comes down to Chase Brown versus J.K. Dobbins. Walter has Dobbins ranked one spot higher rest of season, so this feels like a nice trade for both sides.

Trade 3:

Team 1 Receives: RB James Cook + WR Ladd McConkey

Team 2 Receives: WR Ja’Marr Chase

Ruling: Team 1 clearly wins this trade. Ja’Marr Chase’s fantasy value is down following Burrow’s toe injury, and James Cook has been one of the best fantasy running backs through the first three weeks. On top of that, Team 1 also gets Ladd McConkey, who should have better fantasy days.
