Fantasy Football Preview: NFC East 🏈

Breaking down each NFC East team's fantasy outlook - player to target, player to avoid, and a sleeper pick for every team!

Dallas Cowboys

🎯Player to Target: QB Dak Prescott

Current ADP: QB15

Walter’s Rank (PPR): QB11

There are certainly injury concerns with Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott. He has played fewer than 13 games in three of the past five seasons and missed the final nine games of the 2024 campaign due to a season-ending hamstring injury. However, when healthy, he's among the elite fantasy quarterbacks.

His 2023 campaign (QB3 finish, 20.7 fantasy points per game) demonstrates his ceiling. The addition of WR George Pickens enhances Dallas's receiving corps, and Prescott's QB15 ADP provides excellent value for his upside. The key is health, but the potential reward justifies the risk.

Dak Prescott’s 2023 Game Log

đŸš« Player to Avoid: The Entire Cowboys Backfield

Dallas' backfield underwent a complete overhaul this offseason, with Javonte Williams, Miles Sanders, and rookie Jaydon Blue replacing Rico Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott. This creates a murky situation for fantasy purposes.

Williams enters as the presumed starter but is coming off a poor 2024 season (3.6 true yards per carry and 28 stuffed runs). Sanders appears past his prime, while Blue projects as a passing-down specialist. The uncertainty and lack of proven production make this entire position group avoidable in fantasy football drafts.

💎 Sleeper Pick: TE Jake Ferguson

Current ADP: TE19

Walter’s Rank (PPR): TE19

Dallas Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson continues to go under the radar in fantasy drafts. It makes sense why Ferguson is going as the TE19 in most leagues. He only averaged 7.5 PPR fantasy points per game last season and really wasn’t a factor in the passing game. But let’s not forget that Prescott was out for most of the season.

In the seven games that Prescott was healthy, Ferguson averaged 10.2 PPR fantasy points per game. He also finished as the overall TE9 during the 2023 season, in which the Cowboys QB stayed healthy. Despite adding Pickens, Dallas' high-powered offense should generate enough targets for Ferguson to remain relevant. His late-round price makes him an intriguing TE option with proven chemistry alongside a healthy Prescott.

New York Giants

🎯 Player to Target: RB Cam Skattebo

Current ADP: RB33

Walter’s Rank (PPR): RB31

RB Cam Skattebo put his name on the map in his final college season at Arizona State, totaling 2,316 yards from scrimmage and 24 total touchdowns. That led to Skattebo getting selected in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. While he is expected to start the season behind RB Tyrone Tracy Jr., his versatility should help him earn more opportunities throughout the season.

Skattebo has excellent hands, and the Giants could lean on him in the passing game to start his career. The Arizona State product totaled 605 yards with the Sun Devils last season. We could also see a changing of the guard in this backfield if Tracy continues to have fumbling issues. He fumbled five times last season. As a result, the rookie is a fantastic flex target in PPR formats at this point in drafts, considering QB Russell Wilson had a league-leading 19.2% checkdown rate in 2024.

đŸš« Player to Avoid: RB Tyrone Tracy Jr.

Current ADP: RB31

Walter’s Rank (PPR): RB34

Tracy’s rookie success stemmed largely from a lack of competition, but Skattebo’s arrival changes that dynamic. Tracy ranked 33rd in true yards per carry (4.1) among all RBs last season, suggesting efficiency concerns entering the new campaign.

That means the backfield could eventually evolve into a committee approach, limiting Tracy's fantasy ceiling. If you also add in his ball security issues, Tracy's RB31 ADP appears too aggressive for a player facing increased competition.

💎 Sleeper Pick: WR Wan’Dale Robinson

Current ADP: WR70

Walter’s Rank (PPR): WR60

New York Giants WR Wan’Dale Robinson offers an appealing combination of consistency and opportunity. He averaged 10.8 PPR points in 2024 while reaching double-digit PPR fantasy points in nine of 17 games, providing a reliable fantasy floor for managers.

With no significant WR additions, Robinson projects as New York's WR2 in an improved offense with Wilson. The veteran is a massive upgrade at the QB position, and the 24-year-old slot playmaker caught 93 passes a season ago. So, he’s worth a dart-throw in some deeper PPR leagues at his WR70 ADP.

Philadelphia Eagles

🎯Player to Target: QB Jalen Hurts

Current ADP: QB4

Walter’s Rank (PPR): QB4

Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts remains an elite fantasy quarterback entering 2025 drafts. He has finished as a top-3 fantasy QB twice (2022, 2023) over the past three years, and even in his "down" 2024 campaign, he still averaged 21.3 fantasy points per game (QB6).

What sets Hurts apart is his rushing consistency. He's posted at least 600 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns in four consecutive seasons, creating an exceptional weekly floor and ceiling. With the tush-push remaining legal, Hurts offers unmatched upside. At his QB4 ADP, he's a must-draft option who should deliver reliable QB1 production.

đŸš« Player to Avoid: WR A.J. Brown

Current ADP: WR9

Walter’s Rank (PPR): WR12

While Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown has been the clear WR1 in this offense since arriving in 2022, his second-round price tag this season comes with significant risk. Despite finishing as a top-6 fantasy WR in two of his three seasons in Philadelphia, Brown's weekly inconsistency is concerning.

A.J. Brown’s 2024 Game Log

In 2024, Brown failed to reach 14 PPR points in six of 13 games while averaging just 7.5 targets per contest. The underlying issue is Philadelphia's run-heavy approach, as the team ranked dead last with only 29 pass attempts per game last season. This limited passing volume creates a boom-or-bust profile that's difficult to trust at his WR9 ADP.

💎 Sleeper Pick: TE Dallas Goedert

Current ADP: TE16

Walter’s Rank (PPR): TE17

Philadelphia Eagles TE Dallas Goedert faces the same volume concerns as Brown, but his late-round price makes him intriguing. When healthy in 2024, he demonstrated a solid fantasy floor, scoring at least 10 PPR points in five of eight complete games.

As the third option behind Brown and DeVonta Smith, Goedert won't dominate targets, but he should find consistent opportunities in an offense that will need reliable chain-movers. His mid-range TE2 price offers excellent value for managers seeking positional depth.

Washington Commanders

🎯Player to Target: QB Jayden Daniels

Current ADP: QB3

Walter’s Rank (PPR): QB3

Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels' rookie season was nothing short of spectacular, finishing as QB5 while averaging 21.5 fantasy points per game. His 891 rushing yards ranked second among all QBs, trailing only Lamar Jackson's 915 yards.

The addition of Deebo Samuel significantly upgrades Washington's receiving corps, giving Daniels more reliable targets. His dual-threat ability provides an elite fantasy floor, and at 24 years old, he's entering his prime. The QB3 ADP reflects his proven production and enhanced supporting cast.

đŸš« Player to Avoid: WR Terry McLaurin

Current ADP: WR17

Walter’s Rank (PPR): WR20

With Daniels’ success as a rookie, Washington Commanders WR Terry McLaurin emerged as a reliable fantasy option last year. McLaurin finished as the WR7 in PPR formats while averaging 15.8 PPR points per game. He was really one of the most consistent fantasy WRs in 2024, scoring above 15 PPR fantasy points in 12 different contests.

Terry McLaurin’s Player Profile in the WalterPicks App

However, the underlying metrics suggest regression is likely. Despite his success, McLaurin managed just a 22.2% target share and averaged only 4.6 catches per game. His 13-touchdown season appears unsustainable, and with the addition of Samuel, his target competition has increased. The WR17 ADP assumes continued touchdown luck that may not materialize.

💎 Sleeper Pick: RB Brian Robinson

Current ADP: RB29

Walter’s Rank (PPR): RB29

Washington Commanders RB Brian Robinson's 2024 season was hampered by a persistent knee injury, but his early-season performance showed his potential. Through the first five weeks before his injury, he averaged 15.5 PPR fantasy points per game.

Washington's run-heavy approach (fifth-most rushing attempts in 2024) creates ample opportunity for Robinson. As one of the few remaining starting RBs available in this draft range, he offers excellent value as a weekly flex play with RB2 upside in this ascending Commanders offense.
