Keenan Allen Signs with the LA Chargers
Originally this article was titled â3 Potential Preseason Transactionsâ and included analysis on landing spots for veteran WR Keenan Allen. The Chargers were one of our favorite landing spots for fantasy football purposes, and now he has signed with them for 1-year, $8.52 million.
In Allenâs last season with the Chargers in 2023, he had 1,243 yards and 7 touchdowns in just 13 games. His production took a step back in Chicago last season (who were horrific on offense down the stretch), catching 70 passes for 744 yards and 7 TDs over the course of 15 games.
Allen is 33 years old coming off a down year, but still has a chance to be very productive in this Chargers offense. While we expect Ladd McConkey to remain in the slot on a majority of snaps, the rest of the pass catchers on this team are huge question marks. Allen has always been more of a route-running technician than a player who wins with athleticism. He has always had an excellent rapport with Chargers QB Justin Herbert, and an 8+ million dollar investment at this point in the offseason signals that this is more than just a flier.
Allen should be drafted and rostered in every fantasy format!
Two Potential Preseason Transactions
1. Terry McLaurin

Terry McLaurin requesting a trade has sparked many conversations in the fantasy football community. It feels likely that Washington pays McLaurin (at least if they are smart), but what if he goes somewhere else?
The Steelers would be an interesting option, although their run volume and lack of consistency at quarterback are causes for concern. An intriguing spot would be the Broncos. With Bo Nix continuing to ascend, and McLaurin's skill set pairing very well with Courtland Sutton's, Scary Terry would be a lot of fun in Denver. Still, neither of these scenarios would be better for McLaurin than a return to Washington, where he is the locked in WR1 and has continuity with the offense and an elite quarterback.
The worst case scenario, albeit unrealistic, would be a team like the Saints. They have two quality wide receivers and extremely questionable quarterback play. A more realistic and vile option in the AFC would be the Colts. They already have Josh Downs, Michael Pittman Jr., and the Richardson/Jones QB room inspires no confidence.
Let us hope Scary Terry stays in Washington.
Best Landing Spot: If not the Commanders, Denver
Worst Landing Spot: Colts (EW)
2. Mark Andrews

Mark Andres has always been a bit of a long shot to be moved before the season. With Isaiah Likely suffering an injury in training camp, Andrewsâ likelihood of being moved has lessened. But there was still some chatter about the possibility at points in the offseason, and its fun to think about possible fits if the Ravens were to actually move him heading into his contract year.
A great landing spot for Mark Andrews would be the Chargers. Their current tight end depth chart consists of Will Dissly, Tyler Conklin, and Orande Gadsden. It seems unlikely that Baltimore would want to move Andrews to an AFC team, but if any team could pull it off, it would be the one coached by John Harbaugh's brother. Another intriguing spot would be the Rams. Tyler Higbee has been dealing with injuries, and Terrance Ferguson is an unproven rookie who is currently dealing with a groin injury. Assuming Matthew Stafford returns healthy, Andrews would be a fun option on a team with Davante Adams and Puka Nacua.
A particularly bad landing spot for someone as good as Mark Andrews is difficult to identify. The simplest answer would be any team that already has an above average to elite pass-catching tight end. Oddly, if Isaiah Likely recovers from his injury he may pose a bigger threat to Andrewsâ production than anyone on a potential new team.
We would be shocked to see Andrews moved at this point, but there might be more potential for him outside of Baltimore.
Best Landing Spot: Chargers or Rams
Worst Landing Spot: Ravens(???)
